Process water: Reverse Osmosis, Electro-deionization, UV Disinfection
The Watera solutions catalog enables the integration of tailor-made water treatment systems designed to address the challenges associated with specific water quality requirements for demanding industrial applications. Among the solutions offered:
Low-Pressure Reverse Osmosis
Watera offers a wide range of reverse osmosis units, from 180 L/h to over 80 m³/h, ranging from compact versions to fully customized systems designed to meet specific operational requirements.
Electrodeionization (EDI)
Electrodeionization is a relatively recent technology for producing ultra-pure water without the use of chemicals. It is based on the combined use of spiral-wound membranes and ion-exchange resins. A direct current power supply is connected to an anode and a cathode, keeping the resin continuously regenerated and active. The electric field established between the anode and cathode promotes water electrolysis and the separation of dissolved ions. This process enables the production of high-purity water (> 17.5 MΩ·cm) from water previously demineralized by reverse osmosis. Watera’s EDI range is designed and manufactured in compliance with the most stringent standards in terms of quality, safety, and emissions. The materials used, particularly those in contact with water, offer proven corrosion resistance.
U.V. Sterilization
Watera’s UV disinfection systems are designed for a wide range of applications. Ultraviolet (UV) light is an increasingly popular method for water disinfection. The fluid treated through sterilization systems is exposed to light emitted by specially designed low-pressure mercury lamps. The light produced by these lamps is concentrated (up to 90%) within the germicidal spectrum around the 254 nm wavelength, in order to destroy or inactivate, with an appropriate dosage, microorganisms (waterborne and surface bacteria, airborne microorganisms, viruses, yeasts, and molds). The UV-C light emitted penetrates the cell wall of microorganisms, irreversibly damages the genetic material contained in the DNA, and prevents reproduction. A wide range of UV models is available to suit numerous different applications.
Dosing Systems
Watera offers a complete range of electromagnetic dosing pumps. These pumps can operate continuously or be activated by a digital on/off signal, or via a dry-contact on/off signal from a pulse-generating device. Watera also provides a full range of analog dosing pumps that enable proportional dosing through a 4–20 mA input signal generated by a pulse-emitting device or a pH/Rx sensor.
Water Softeners
Watera softeners provide high-quality softened water for all applications (commercial, industrial, etc.). To prevent scale formation in installations supplied with raw water (municipal water, well water, surface water, etc.), the installation of a water softening system ensures long-term protection of equipment by reducing operating costs and extending the service life of installations (boilers, hot water tanks, cooling systems, etc.).
